all of those came from the "rot" radio promo that roadrunner records gave out to a few lucky people years ago. now this promo is from "the darker side of nonsense" era when they only released this one album on roadrunner and then left when the label wanted the band to adopt a "more commercial sound". i guess that's exec speak for "sound like nickelback". anywho, apparently the band recorded their cover of prong's "snap your fingers, snap your neck" for this promo. it really doesn't stray too far away from prong's version except for the fact it's a bit faster...actually it's a bit faster than grinspoon's cover too. the "rot [edit]" is not a radio edit where they remove all expletives, but in this case, all they really did was just remove 1:20 from the beginning of the song. i have no clue why, but i suspect it's so they could fit more commercials on the radio. "a better man than me" is obviously a remix, but i can't really compare it to the original as i haven't heard it yet. "sab (get the fuck out)" is weird. it sounds like it was recorded at a party...well, all the vocals you hear. apparently this track was a redoing of a track on the album...i don't really know either. but it's fucking funny as hell as the only lyrics in the thing are "sab, get the fuck out". that and you can hear bitching before and after that. i don't know if these tracks were commercially released, but here you go.

these are from the "songs to make love to" e.p. or as i know it the "easy" single. i say this as the cover on my copy actually says "easy" not "songs to make love to". only on the disc itself is this printed. now, this is a bit odd especially for faith no more. i mean, this entire single is just plain odd. you can tell this is where mike patton took over. "easy" is a commodores cover and is pretty good. this version is different from the version that was eventually included with later pressings of "angel dust". it does not contain the spoken intro and has strings throughout the song. "das schutzenfest" is...well, it sounds like something you'd hear at oktoberfest. i'm pretty sure it's in german and well...it's faith no more doing a german polka song. if that doesn't say how odd this song is, well...i don't know what does. "midnight cowboy" is the album version that was on "angel dust" so no need to go on about that one. finally another odd track..."let's lynch the landlord". now, obviously it's a dead kennedys cover, but this is perhaps the most fucking odd DK cover i've ever heard. you think of a DK cover, you'd think that it'd resemble the original in some form. not here because, once again, the polka vibe kicks in. there really is nothing else i can say about this track. i can't form words when i think about it. it's that indescribable. so...listen to it for yourself heh.

escape from the blog part 1...or 2...
i actually had started to post this entry a week or so ago, but alas...something happened and i didn't feel like retyping all that shit out again. i also had intended to add the "L.A. Remix" of "Blame" and a few other choice songs...but i got lazy and didn't upload them just yet. and yes...macabre is on right now, but i just don't feel like uploading today. maybe tomorrow...who knows heh. let's get on with the music.
White Zombie
The One
one of the last 3 original songs released by white zombie before their "hiatus". i swear, if you heard the word "hiatus" and a band's name in the same sentence, said band is dead. i just wish band's would just say "it's dead" instead of leaving false hope out there in the form of "hiatus", but i digress.
as i saying, this song like the other 2...well, i guess "i'm your boogie man" doesn't count since it's a cover and not an original song...ah shit, fuck it. this song like the other 2 songs strangely got relegated to soundtrack duty before the bands demise. of the 3 songs, i feel this one is the more superior and yes i do like "ratfinks, suicide tanks and cannibal girls" but this one just packs more punch. it's prolly the most industrial white zombie song ever released. anywho, i think this song could've worked better as a swansong than "ratfinks". i'm prolly the only who feels this way, but what can i say? i love this one.
Stabbing Westward

whats not the love about this one too? it has the most memorable line in the history of stabbing westward: "so let's fuck until we fall asleep". c'mon how many bands can actually think of a lyric completely obvious like that and make it work? i dare you to listen that line and not chuckle just a little bit when you hear christopher hall say "fuck". enough of that hehe. this song also sadly got demoted to soundtrack duty too (obviously as it's on the same damn soundtrack as the previous song heh). i guess it doesn't fit anywhere on "wither blister burn + peel"...too slow i suppose, who knows? but what i do know is this, "dawn" existed before in a previous incarnation as a song known as "plastic jesus" on the "iwo jimma" demo.
how the hell "dawn" arose from that track i'll never know as there is virtually nothing from that track that made it's transition into it's final form (now notice i said "virtually" to cover my ass just in case i'm dead wrong hehe). i'd prolly be able to figure it out more if the copy of the demo i have was of better quality, but you take what you can get. for a long time, this soundtrack was the only place to get this song until the release of "the essential" which just detracts from this release as a whole as this was one of the jewels of the cd, i say this as the soundtrack starts off with this very song. strangely "the essential" also contained the josh wink version of "torn apart" which stabbing westward apparently hates...*shrug* i'll get around to posting that another time.
ok, enjoy what little i've given you today and hopefully i can repeat the xXx-mas entry again on another day.

late xXx-mas present
i originally intended to post some of the different christmas-type songs i have, which pretty much ends up being 2-3. so i didn't do that and instead decided to just share more music. so here we go, your late christmas present.
The Ramones
Any Way You Want It
here is the other bonus studio track from "greatest hits live". it's a cover of a dave clarke five song which i've never heard. i'm not entirely sure why this song hasn't appeared on any other ramones compilation as it's definitely one of my favorites.
The Prodigy
Firestarter [Empirion Mix]
Molotov Bitch
2 tracks from the "firestarter" single. i would've included the other two, but an edit and an instrumental version didn't seem like much of a post, so here are the other two. the first one is the empirion mix of "firestarter". it's damn near 8 minutes long and definitely one of the best remixes i've ever heard. this is just one of those songs with the fast keyboard & drum beat that just make it appropriate for any sort of fast paced video game. the other track "molotov bitch", i really don't know what to say about this one. it's a great b-side, but it just reminds me of the chemical brothers track "buzz tracks" from the "setting sun" single which is really just a tool for DJ's. it also reminds me of the original mix of "under my wheels", like it could've been something else, but just ended up as is. you be the judge on that one. either way, it's a good listen.
the last two tracks come from the same soundtrack. on my list of favorite soundtracks, its definitely up in the top 5. the soundtrack in question is the "escape from l.a." soundtrack.

i think if there's one thing one could notice about this post is that it's chock-full of favorites of mine. moving on, here's a ministry track that if you were to look at user reviews of said soundtrack on amazon.com, you'd see just how many people hate it. it's a b-side from "filth pig" but i can't seem to remember what single it actually appeared on. but in any case, the fact it came from the "filth pig" era has pretty much earned this song the same reputation the album received. it's definitely one of the most depressing songs i've ever heard ministry do...at least it seems depressing. the lyric "if paisley could fly" and jourgenson's vocals sure point me in that direction. i wish ministry would release a b-sides album with this track so i can retire my damn soundtrack heh.

Can't Hardly Breathe
now here's a song that strangely was missing from the deftones b-side album, which just as well have been the deftones cover album. this song along with "teething" from "the crow: city of angels" should've been included, but alas they were not. don't know why, but i wasn't the only one to notice. also, the fact that album claims to have a complete videography on the second disc is bullshit. it'd be complete if the "street carp" video was included. anywho, this song is somewhere between "adrenaline" and "around the fur" as it sounds like it could've been a first taste of new material to come at the time. shit it's hard to write anything about this song as my mind pretty much just wants to say "it's a deftones song." i like this song, but it's just one of those songs that just blends in pretty well with the rest of the songs that appeared on their albums.
but alas, it's out of print...so here you go.

she was a liar
i know i said i was going leave posts up for 1 week and 1 week only, and as you can tell it's been longer than that and the previous posts are still up. well, t'is the season and i'm going to leave them up until the day after xXx-mas. now let's get on with the musiks.
The Ramones

first up, we the ramones. both tracks are the exact same song but with two different members singing. the first version has c.j. ramone singing and was originally a bonus track on the japanese version of "adios amigos", but was also included the on 1999 "anthology" cd. the second has joey ramone singing on it and was one of two bonus studio tracks on a live c.d. named "greatest hits live" that apparently nobody really likes. now this song is a cover of a motorhead song that lemmy wrote in tribute to them (obviously heh.) other than the two different ramones singing, theres only 1 difference between the two and it's way the guitar sounds between the two.
i think i may post the other studio track from "greatest hits live" another day.

second up is MSI. now i really wanted to include a remix from the "straight to video" single, but i was really annoyed that all the remixes (except 1) used urine's vocals in it's entirety. it's odd to hear his vocals complete with different music for 15tracks. i prefer remixes that just reinvent the song, but alas...
as for what i did pick. these are both off the "bitches" single. the first is...well, i don't know what the hell you'd call it. it's not really a remix as it's more of a mock automated phone answering system using lyrics from "bitches" in it. it's quite amusing actually. the other is a remix of "molly" and it was an interesting choice for the single since it was a song that was out of print by the time the "bitches" single came out. i'm not entirely sure if the words "industrial dub" do the mix justice as it sounds not really industrial at all, but still it's a pretty good short mix.

it's as extreme as you make it
ok, i'm going to dispense with half the shit i said in the previous post as it didn't sound like me at all. anywho, this post is very appropriate today as it was just one of those days where you couldn't help but feel like it was crazy no matter where you went. i went out shopping for birthday presents and due to the fact that it was the day before thanksgiving, it felt like it was black friday. we tried to find at parking space and actually did find one, but some lady in a yellow car with batman license plates cut us off and took it. the store was packed too...it was wild. now on the matter at hand, the track of this post is:
Pantera

now this track came off a spongebob squarepants cd that i found in the discount bin at my favorite record store ever. i'm not sure how many pantera fans know about this, let alone would actually buy a spongebob cd for this track alone. its only a minute long and it definitely stands out amongst the 6 other spongebobby-type songs on the disc. no words, just instrumental, which is something i don't think i've ever heard pantera do. kinda like that tres diablos track that had dimebag and rex trade off vocals.
anyway, enjoy the "extreme" track (i guess you need to see that episode to get that joke heh) as black friday is right around the corner.

you never forget your first time
ahh...first post. i guess i should post some sort of brief intro...even though i suck at it.
intro.
over, thank you. now on to the business at hand as my subject for the first post is:
the smashing pumpkins.
the end is the beginning is the end
the beginning is the end is the beginning
my first favorite band, second if you don't cyndi lauper hehe. these tracks came from the "batman & robin" soundtrack (horrible fucking movie). i originally was going to post the underworld & moloko tracks as well, but time constraints left it to be these two. anywho, i remember being in high school when this track was released as a single and everyone went nuts for it. what makes this so amusing for me is the fact that everyone who loved it were the exact people who hated "eye" that was released on the "lost highway" soundtrack the previous year. this track is not that huge of a leap from "eye" as the electronic element is a still present but a bit more subdued due to presence of the bands traditional rock instrumentation.
the other half of this post is "the beginning is the end is the beginning". this one is nowhere near as fast and rocky as "the end...", but it definitely is more slow and moody in it's presentation. it's probably the more electronic of the two. even though the song is pretty much the same as the former, it's a completely different song with only the chorus remaining. i think i like this one a bit more than the other.
wow...i think i just noticed i said "presentation" and "instrumentation" a bit. i hope that doesn't make me sound pretentious as hell coz i seriously thought using words such as "like", "ya know", "radical" make me sound a bit stupid. anywho...that'll pretty much do it for today.
